He will be lovingly remembered by his partner Norma Frewin and her family and his children Ted (Donna) Dingman, Barb (Doug) Bayliss, Barry (Nancy) Dingman, Geri Dingman (Jeff Maerten), and Ginnie Sue Weaymouth (Tom Woods). Proud grandpa of Melissa (Andrew), Kristin (Tom), Tara, Kelly (Derick), Candace (Sean), Elise (Sean), Hilary (Tom), Nathaniel (Cindy), Marissa, Leigha, Hunter and Zac and great-grandpa to Colton, Oliver, Charlotte, Alice, Harrison, Jerome, Baylie, Sully, Lily, James, and Hazel. He will also be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jerry was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Smithville as a teenager, then moved to Hamilton, where he worked at Stelco - Hilton Works for over 40 years. He was an avid gardener, handyman, and collector of 'treasures'. He also enjoyed camping, dancing, photography, and working on the family tree; but the most important thing was spending time with his family.
The family wish to thank the staff at Juravinski Hospital for their compassionate care.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family invites relatives and friends to join them in honouring the memory of Jerome (Jerry) Dingman, whose kindness and loved touched all who knew him. A casual drop-in gathering will be held at Michelangelo Banquet Centre, 1555 Upper Ottawa Street, Hamilton on Saturday, October 18th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
