She was 91 and predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ron Bond (2011). She was the last remaining sibling, predeceased by her brothers Alan, Brian, Philip, Malcolm and sister Eileen. Survived by her 3 children, Sue Reaume (Jamie), Sandra Burgess (predeceased by Dan 2023), and Cameron Bond (Christine Rubel). Granny was very proud of her 5 grandchildren Jacqueline Grandits (Danny), Caroline Nickele (Chris), Eric Bond (Kelly Fitzgerald), Cody Burgess and Amanda Silveira (nee Bond) (Derek). Mom & Dad always took an interest in what the grandkids were up to. They attended all of their activities and took them on outings (hikes, farms, fairs and the horse track!). She was also an adored Great Granny to Charleigh, Hunter, Alice and Declan, who all enjoyed playing in her garden. Her legacy will live on through her loving family.
Also survived by her loving sister-in-law and good friend Carlene Blanche, niece Barb Smith and her husband Harry, and longtime friend Edna Snelling.
Mom remained very active and independent until an illness this summer. She had enjoyed her time with family, gardening, oil painting and shopping. Over the years, Mom and Dad had travelled to many places, including Hong Kong, Japan, Spain, and Denmark. They spent winters in Florida as snowbirds and also travelled through many Provinces and States across North America with their camper and RV.
Mom lived life on her own terms. A child affected by the Great Depression, she took pride in her frugal spending and encouraged others to do the same. She received many compliments on her youthfulness, and if you asked her, she would always say she was 29.
Family and friends are invited to join us at her home on Sunday, August 27, 2023 anytime from 1-4pm to celebrate a life well lived and to enjoy her lovely garden.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for all the recent support and assistance of so many in the health care field, including Dr. Bruno Di Paolo, Alison Vagnini NP, and staff; all those at Juravinski, St. Joseph's Hospital, East End Urgent Care, PT Raj, and the Pharmacy staff at Fortinos on Mall Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory can be me made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
