Joan passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday November 10th, 2015 one day before her 83rd birthday. Cherished wife of Ken Dorman for 60 years. Loving mother to daughter Becky and her husband Geoff. Also loved and appreciated by her daughter in law Kim. Predeceased by her cherished sons Ron and Jamie. "Meggie" adored her grandchildren Ryan (Laura), Sara (Kevin), Holly (Shawn), Shannon and Evan. Great Grandmother to Khloe and Taliyah. Dearly loved by her brother Jim (Jackie), and sister Carol (Peter) and pre deceased brother Allan (Maud). Born in Port Colborne, Joan graduated from Hamilton Teachers College (Normal School) and taught in Port Colborne, Dundas and Hamilton. Joan loved golfing and spent many a fine day on the fairway with family and friends. As well as being a talented artist, Joan also had the "gift of the gab" and delighted in intellectual debates. An exemplary student of "life long learning" Joan earned an Honours Degree in English/Philosophy at the age of 66! Our thanks to the doctors and nurses at The General for their care and support for Mom. A celebration of Joan's life will take place on Saturday November 14th at The Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East. Visitation at 2 with a service in the chapel at 3.
