My heart felt condolences to you all..I worked with Joan at St. Joe's in the ICU..She was kind, compassionate and an excellent nurse...Her wisdom was valued and very appreciated.
May she Rest in Peace.

Sorry to hear of your Mothers passing Brenda, my guess is she was extremely proud of her children and their families.  Take care.

Sending sincere condolences to all of Joan’s family and friends.  What a great mom and grandmother you had and I’m sorry for this huge loss!

Joan was such a strong, well read woman who was definitely a role model for me…especially after her retirement.
Whenever I hear the word Sicily, I remember doing a hiking holiday there with her in the spring of 2008 .  We hiked around Mt Etna together with Kathy and Elly and we drove around, what seemed like the entire island…..walking, eating and drinking well and laughing!  I distinctly remember Joan always collecting little cuttings and seeds that she was planning to smuggle home to propagate.  What fun we had in those 2 weeks. 
Makes me smile even now just writing about it,
RIP Joan. You were very loved by many people.

I'll always remember Aunty Joan as a bright light of joy.  When I think of her, the first thing that comes to mind is her huge smile -- she never went anywhere without it.  She was a confidant and caring friend to my mom Patricia.  

Always with her clogs on, and spending time out in her garden, and a dog at her side.  As a child, she introduced me to the silver dollar money plant in her garden and showed me how to gently rub the pods to reveal their shimmering discs.  She will be missed.
