After a courageous battle with cancer John peacefully passed away at the age of 89. Predeceased by his brother Roy. Dearly missed by his nieces Ann (Mic), Susan (Robert), Jane and their families of England. Dennis and Edith were like like parents to him, he loved them dearly. Fourteen years ago Mariann and Kyra Gardiner met John at a McDonald's restaurant, soon after John became a part of their family. (He was known as Mr Sweet Tooth) John treated Tori and Kyra as if they were his own grandchildren and Mariann as his daughter. He was very loved. As a young man John joined the military and served in Britain and later Canada. John was also the youngest person to cross the Atlantic Ocean unaccompanied, at five years old. After time served in Britain, John returned to Canada to call Hamilton his home.. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation has taken place and an interment of his cremated remains will take place in England at a later date.
