

Predeceased by his parents Cameron and Doris (nee Falla), brothers Douglas (Doreen) and William (Yvonne).
Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Elsie (nee Vickery); Loving father of sons Cam (Erin) and Mike (Sue); Proud and loving Grandpa of Evan, Abigail, Megan, Lily, and Noah; Sisters Ruth and Beverly (Bill). John is predeceased by lifelong friends Roger and Connie Freeborn and survived by close friend Benny (the late Anne) Trudel. John will be deeply missed by many other family and friends.
John was a stationary engineer by trade and retired as a supervisor in the Building Services department at St. Joseph’s Hospital in 2011. John volunteered for many years for the Mount Hamilton Minor Hockey Association as a coach, referee and league executive. He also sat on the Hamilton Minor Hockey Council executive for several years. John enjoyed watching most sports, was a lifelong fan of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and an avid golfer.
John will be remembered as being very generous with his time and skills helping family and friends whether it be a renovation project or a drive to an appointment.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s ICU for their exceptional care and compassion during this difficult time.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A service for John has been scheduled on Friday, June 13, 2025 for 2 pm at the Mount Hamilton Cemetery, 260 Rymal Rd East, Hamilton, followed by a celebration at Ye Olde Squires, 550 Fennell Ave E, Hamilton, at 4 pm. Friends and family are invited to both as we come together to celebrate a life well lived. For those not able to attend, there will be a webcast of the 2 pm service to view in the "Service Tab" online on this page.
As expression of sympathy, donations to St. Joseph's Hospital - ICU Department, would be appreciated by the family.
