He faced his journey with strength and fought until the very end, showing remarkable courage and love for his family. John was the devoted husband of Kim, and the proud father of Bryan (Tara) and Stephanie (Drew). He was a deeply cherished Papa to Kayla, Reese, Olivia, Brodie, and Brooks, who were his greatest joy.
John is lovingly reunited with his parents, Kenneth and Dolores Scales, sisters Karen, Debbie, and Eleanor, brothers-in-law Hubert, Ron, Fred and father-in-laws Clyde and Ralph.
He will forever be remembered as the beloved brother of Sharon, Brenda (Peter), Patricia and David. Cherished brother-in-law to Lisa, Larry, Bob, and Grace (Rob). Loving son-in-law to Liv.
John will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews and extended family. A quiet man by nature, John kept a small circle of friends with whom he enjoyed many cherished fishing trips, car races and Carribean vacations — but those he welcomed into his life, he loved dearly and respected deeply. His loyalty and honesty will be remembered always.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Juravinski C3 Oncology Unit, V.O.N, and the incredible staff at Bob Kemp Hospice & Cresmount Funeral Home for their compassion, care, and support during John’s final journey. Donations in John’s memory may be made to Bob Kemp Hospice.
Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue E. on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 12-1pm. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1pm. Burial to take place at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 700 Chapel Hill Road.
