He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, our Mom, Marilyn McCabe Wallace, along with other cherished family members. Dad was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. He shared a special bond with his many nieces and nephews, who remained an important part of his life, with family gatherings continuing right to the end. John David Wallace—also lovingly known as Jay, Jaybird, and Uncle Jack—truly lived a wonderful and fulfilling life.
He is survived by his three loving children: Lynda Agudo (Sebio), Karen Johnson (Jason), and Scott Wallace (Liz). Dad was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Craig, Caitlyn, Kyle, Lixy, James, Charissa, Greg, Elena, Brian, Chris, Willy, and Annie, along with their partners. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to 14 great-grandchildren: Jason, Hunter, Edie, Alec, Tiana, Summer, Haley, Eva, Reese, Brysen, River, Willow, Napoleon, and Aven. Dad retired after 35 dedicated years with Bell Canada. In his retirement, he continued to stay active and engaged, working as a bus driver for Hillfield Strathallan College and later as a limousine driver, both roles he greatly enjoyed.
An accomplished scuba diver and instructor, Dad traveled frequently to the Caribbean, though Tobermory remained his favorite local diving spot. He also had a passion for winter ice diving, which he embraced with enthusiasm. We extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the staff and friends at Wentworth Heights Retirement Home—especially those in the Williamsburg and Egerton neighborhoods—for their exceptional care, kindness, and support.
Dad was also proud to serve as an “Ambassador” for several years, warmly welcoming new residents to the Williamsburg neighborhood, which he called home for the past 6.5 years.
In keeping with Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Dad’s remarkable life will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue E. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 12:00–4:00 p.m. for anyone who wishes to drop in.
