John Willingdon Wood

John was the beloved husband of Jenny Young Wood (2017) for 67 years; loving father of son Wayne (2007) and Janet and son Brent and Brenda. Much loved grandfather of Andrew, Scott (Jess), Katherine, Rebecca (Andrew), Emma and great grandfather of Liam and newly arrived Mason Cole Wood born May 6, 2023.

Predeceased by his parents Emma and Albert Wood, his five siblings; Roy, Mary, Edith, Horace (Ed) and Dorothy. Brother-in-law to Tom Young (Beryl) and uncle to Robin Young (Chester). John will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

John was always committed to the Hamilton community, he was the owner of Kent Tile and Marble Co. and made a difference through many volunteer roles including President of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and the Hamilton Construction Association. He will be missed by special friends at St. Elizabeth Village.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 12:30 – 3:30 pm (light lunch served) at St. Elizabeth Village, Trillium Clubhouse, 393 Rymal Rd. W, Hamilton (entrance off Garth St).
