AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Joseph Boich
26 novembre 1923 – 9 janvier 2021
With sadness, we announce the very peaceful passing of Joseph Boich, in his 98th year with his daughter Kathy at his side at her home on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
Joseph loved his family and friends and his Croatian heritage. He rarely missed an event at the Croatian National Home dancing polkas, waltzes and kolos. If you put a microphone in his hand, you know you would be listening to his speeches for a while! He still holds the status of the longest serving president, at 13 years, of the Croatian National Home. Joe was a founding member of the CNH Men’s 5 Pin bowling league where he enjoyed the friendships of countless people. He also loved his CNH golfing Wednesday’s and the delicious luncheon served afterward by Nada and Ljubica. Affectionately known as the Mayor of London Street, he was a well-known neighbor for 66 years and always maintained well-groomed lawns, bushes and an abundance of colourful flowers. Joseph bids adieu to the wonderful staff and friends he met at the Court at Rushdale Retirement Home. Predeceased by his wife Louise (2005), who he will now be dancing with forever and sisters Martha and Angie. Left to mourn are his children David (Lisa), Kathy (Van), grandchildren Eric (Stephanie), Michelle (Brian), and Brandon and his darling great-granddaughters, Brodi and Sydni. Also survived by his sister Mary, sisters-in-law Mary and Rose, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service and interment will take place.
To livestream the service, please visit the Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church Facebook page www.facebook.com/holycrosscroatian on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 11 am. If desired, donations may be made to the Croatian National Home Building Fund, 1925A Barton Street East, Hamilton, Ontario L8H 2Y7, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

It is with great sadness that Joe is gone. I have known this man for many years as a devoted customer of the Bank. Even though I no longer worked there I would see him frequently. He was the most loving and infectious person in life that I knew. His laugh, his hugs and most of all his humor. I will never forget when he would see me and hug me so hard that I couldn't breath, his stories of dancing. His heart was full of love and he will be dearly missed. With love to his family and friends, Sincere Condolences. Melinda, Gerry, Sommer Aubert- Kuzie xoxox

Condolences to the entire Boich family family from the Radich Family. My Dad (who passed October 19, 2020) told me many stories of himself and Joe as young men. He was a dear friend. I am sure they are once again enjoying each others company. - Rob Radich

Dear Kathy and David: I am so sorry to hear about your father’s passing. From as far back as I can remember “Mr. Boich” has been synonymous with the Croatian Hall and no event was complete without his presence. He always greeted me with “Hello little lady” and never failed to take the time to hear how I was doing. His humour and love of life will never be forgotten. It is definitely the end of an era
and he will be missed.

Dear Kathy, David and families,
We offer our sincere condolences on Joe's passing.
Whenever we were met by Mr. Boich at any Croatian cultural event, we were always greeted with open arms and a loving smile accompanied by laughter and usually an old time story of some sort, maybe even a joke or two. He will be missed and always remembered.
Grateful for his friendship,

To Kathy, David and families....Mr. Boich was an icon. He was incredibly funny with a dry wit and booming laugh. He was a gentleman and a charmer and he will always have a place in our hearts. We share in your loss but rejoice in the celebration of a life well lived. Sincerely with love, Maria & Sam Taormina
PS...he was also a great neighbour!!!!
