Passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the I.C.U. Hamilton General Hospital, from complications of pneumonia.
He was born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia and raised in Sydney.
He is survived by his loving wife Cathy O’Grady nee Magis. He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Helen O’Grady (LeBlanc).
He worked at J.I. Case (International Harvester) for 34 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Clewlow (Stan) and Karen Davis. his sisters, Robina Richards, Nepean, ON, Mary Conrad, Orleans, ON., his grandchildren, Ryan Clewlow (Leanna), Shawn Clewlow (Maddy), Amber Juteau (Trevor), Parker Davis (Lexie), his great-grandchildren Madison and Myles Clewlow and Hayes Pryde.
Predeceased by his grandson, Tyler Juteau and first wife Joan O’Grady.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Ottawa and Nova Scotia.
Joe and Cathy met at 16 and have loved each other for many years. They had a beautiful marriage. Joe was loving, kind, and very smart with repairs. He loved to hunt and fish with his friends in Cape Breton. He could pick up any instrument and play it, especially spoons the Irish way. He was an excellent dancer and danced often with his wife Cathy. He loved the Toronto Maple Leafs. Joe didn’t look his age and he loved that. He was a loving, caring and empathetic person, with a very calm nature. Joe was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Cathy loved him with all her heart and will miss him very much.
The family will receive friends at the MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King St. East, Hamilton, on Friday from 11 am to 1pm. Followed by his service in the Chapel at 1pm.
Cremation to follow.
