I wonder if Mrs Mongeon had a condo in Nassau  which she rented out.
My son David rented a place from a Joyce Mongeon years ago
She was lovely and invited us for lunch a few times

Mrs. Mongeon,  Joyce,  as a legendary entrepreneur, with presence of  unmistakable  confidence, demonstrated determination at improving the community for all concerned.  A model of interest in others and family which any Rotarian could proudly emulate. My first   personal connection came during her Royal Connaught ownership, where her larger than life influence was instrumental at ensuring my patronage of their services was marvelously enjoyed.  It is in this time that I came to know Marcel, to whom Joyce must have imparted the motivation to contribute for others sake as she had.

May Joyce rest in peace.  To Marcel, Trish, Roger, Maggie, grand and great-grand children the wish for you is peace and comfort at knowing for this one person, Joyce offered an example and a lending hand of support which is eternally appreciated.


Whilst she asked me to call her Joyce many times, she will always be “Mrs. Mongeon” in my heart.  My early memories of her, growing up in Hamilton, was one of awe.  She was a gregarious woman, always shepherding others, sharing her opinions and thoughts firmly and at times quite loudly.  As a young woman, I saw the curious, caring, passionate, and compassionate side of her.  Her strong family values, as well as her sense of duty and responsibility, guided her actions and interactions.  It wasn’t until I was a grown woman with children of my own, that I began to appreciate her sense of energy and vitality, her quirky sense of humour, and the all-encompassing passion that was Mrs. Mongeon.  She was a woman to be reckoned with, and I am humbled to have known her, and to have been welcomed and included in her life. She made an indelible print on my heart. To Marcel, Roger, Trish, Maggie, and the whole Mongeon family, please accept my condolences and prayers as you navigate through these days.        

My memories of Joyce span almost 60 years.  In my preteen and teen years I remember those 60s hairdos and cocktail parties in Hamilton and up at Lake Nipissing.  In later years I have memories of moo moos and Joyce directing and orchestrating dinners, parties and events (whether hers or those of her friend’s children).   She was a presence always felt even if not seen.  She would always ask the most poignant and sometimes difficult or embarrassing questions.  Even now I hear her voice in my mind when I think of her and write these words.

For me and for my sister Nadia she was the final bastion of an era that we both cherish and will always remember fondly. 

My heart goes out to Marcel and Roger, Trish and Maggie and the entire Mongeon clan.


My sincere condolences to Marcel, Trish, Roger, Maggie and families. I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. M., Marcel and Roger many years ago. Such a generous giving family.  We shared many lunches of her favourite  Kentucky Fried Chicken. Thanks for all the wonderful memories.  From pool/dinner parties at her home to the antics at the office. Always such fun.  🙏 May you rest in eternal peace Mrs. M ❤️ until we meet again… sore with the angels

A tribute.

Joyce was really a force of nature. In her very unique ways she always took the time (without knowing it) to teach me (I was 17 years old at the moment) at least half a dozen lessons that I've always applied and treasured. So many memories.
