Jozef Fticar

Beloved husband of the late Ida Fticar (1980) and cherished father of the late Jozef Fticar Jr. (2008). He is survived by his loving son John Fticar (Elizabeth) and was a proud and devoted grandfather to Matthew and Lauren. Jozef will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Slovenia. A longtime and dedicated employee of Dofasco for 30 years, Jozef was also a faithful parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church. He took great pride in baking, gardening, and spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. Many treasured memories were made during summers up north with extended family and friends. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at AgeCare Willowgrove Long-Term Care, who cared for “Papa Joe” with kindness, dignity, and respect. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jozef’s memory may be made to AbleLiving (Trinity Church Road, Binbrook) or to St. Gregory the Great Church. Visitation will take place at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street E. (at Kenilworth), on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Vigil Prayers to be said at 4:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Church on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
