

Julia had an irrepressible love of life. She found joy in every person she encountered. She was the ultimate “Wander Woman” who spent many hours as a regular HSR rider, always busy running errands for friends, bowling, and volunteering at St. Joseph’s Villa and The Willowgrove Nursing Homes. She loved animals, walking in nature, and looked forward to travelling which she often did. Julia’s devotion to her Catholic faith was unwavering and she was proud to work for The Sisters of The Precious Blood for many years.Julia is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Walburga, and her brother Francis. She is survived by her siblings Joseph, Theresia (John), Mary (Paul), John (Marilyn), Margaret, Pauline (Stephen), and Peter (Carolyn), nieces and nephews: Esmé and Michael (Maram); Andrew (Kieu-Thu) and Benjamin; Justin, Simon and Jasper; Nicolas and Kayla; Joni, Wesley, and Adeline, and many other relatives and friends.We will forever miss Julia’s phone calls with news and bowling scores, her fierce competition in Scrabble and Queen of Spades, and her endless love and hugs.
Visitation will be held at the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME- 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Tuesday, September 18th from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery Chapel -154 Northcliffe Avenue, Hamilton on Wednesday September, 19th at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia’s memory can be made to The Sisters of The Precious Blood (P.O. Box 1046, LCD 1, Hamilton ON L8N 3R4)
