Love, joy and humor have slipped away from us with the passing of Larry at the Juravinski Hospital on Thursday, August 17th, where he was declared colon cancer free but his heart decided differently.
Larry was a devoted and loving husband to Joan Emily (Leach), and wonderful, caring father to Trevor Allen, and Kerri Jean Russell (Kyle). Larry's work career began as a teenage Pin Boy at the Dundas bowling alley. Higher education saw Larry's career as a cost accountant/analyst expand to many companies with great achievement (IBM Solutions, 1977) and designing a complete accounting system of the appliance product group of TRW-CARR Division (Stoney Creek).
Larry's kindness and humor helped many special needs children when in semi-retirement he drove school bus ten years for Caledonia Transport. Larry befriended folks as an active volunteer for the CNIB. Larry also became a free-lance auditor for many, including the HUB Hockey Assn. and the Friends of Westfield.
At the Westfield Pioneer Village, Larry actively worked at restoration of the TH&B 103 and was responsible for the rebuilding for their Velocipede. Family and friends will recall Larry's love of classic cars, especially his 1968 Mustang and his convertible driven for over 40 years.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue E. on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 11-1 with a Memorial Service to follow in the chapel at 1pm. For those who wish to attend the service virtually please click the link provided on the funeral home website.
The family wishes to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at the Hamilton General, St. Joseph's and Juravinski Hospitals for their undivided attention and care given to Larry. Donations in Larry's memory can be made to the Westfield Heritage Village (TH&B 103 Train Restoration).
