Lewis George Marlin

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father and “papa” on Saturday January 13, 2018 at Macassa Lodge surrounded by his family. Beloved soul mate of Margaret (nee Hollo) for 51 years. Loving father of son Ken and his wife Ramona, daughter Wendy and devoted “Papa Lewy” of Stephanie, Emily, Denise, Trevor and Sean. Survived by his brother George Marlin and his wife Josie. Predeceased by his parents Nora (nee Bonang) of Chezzetcook, NS and George Marlin of Patras Greece and sisters Athena Griffin, Tula Levine, Toni Sauve, Jackie Barnaby. Lew will be sadly missed by his cousins, many nieces, nephews, god children and friends. Lew was born in Montreal, lived with his family is Ottawa eventually settling in Hamilton. Lew was member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish since 1961 where he served with the Scout Committee, help to organize the Fall Bazar, sang in the choir, served as Eucharistic Minister and lead bible study groups. Lew also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Lew retired at the age of 59 from Dofasco as Electric Furnace General Forman after a 44-year career and was a member of the Electric Furnace Guild of America. Lew and Marg enjoyed travelling especially to Las Vegas, Hawaii, China, Greece, Hungary, Australia, New Zealand and driving around North America. Lew was a lifelong Ti-Cat fan enjoyed music, dancing, visiting family, summers fishing at Trout Lake and boating throughout Ontario. Lew’s kindness and generosity was felt by all those he met and he loved. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Macassa Lodge for their unwavering care, kindness, compassion and friendship. His family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E. on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with vigil prayers at 2 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, 416 Mohawk Rd. E. on Saturday, January 20th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in Mt. Hamilton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation would be appreciated.
