

Died peacefully on September 24, 2016 at St. Peters Residence in Hamilton, Ontario. She was born in Slobidka, Ukraine on August 1, 1923 to Nicholas Korostil and Ewdokia Zalesky Korostil. She came to Canada as a refugee after World War Two along with her husband, Michael Krywokulsky, and daughter Mary. Luba was very active in the Ukrainian-Canadian community, serving in various capacities, including a term as president, in the Ukrainian-Canadian Women’s League Hamilton chapter. Among other initiatives, she spearheaded the successful effort to showcase an exhibit of Ukrainian cultural artifacts in Hamilton’s city hall. For her many endeavors, she was awarded the prestigious Taras Shevchenko medal by the Ukrainian-Canadian Congress. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, three brothers, and her son, John. She is survived by her sister, Maria Boyko, of Ukraine; daughter Mary and son-in-law Thomas Van Nortwick; son Walter; granddaughter, Laurel Kirtz; grandson Elias Kirtz and his fiancée, Seana Gordon; grandson Aaron Kirtz, his wife, Blue Chevigny, and her great-granddaughter, Simone Chevigny Kirtz. She is also survived by her cousins, Tanya Kraw, Lisa Kraw, Maria Wolfs and her husband, Valens Wolfs, whose music and prayers brought great comfort on the last day of her life. Visitation at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, on Tuesday from 7-9pm. Funeral Service at Ukrainian Church of the Resurrection, 821 Upper Wentworth Street, on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 11am. Interment St Volodymyr Cemetery.
