

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Margaret Eleanor Giroux (nee Dengis) on February 9, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospital, Hamilton, ON, in her 89th year. Devoted wife of the late Arthur Giroux (1995). Much loved mother of Harry (Leslie) of Stoney Creek, Marian Klimek (Edwin) of St. Catharines and Janine (Dianne) of Hamilton. Cherished grandmother of Caroline (Evan) and Madeline Klimek and Corbin Giroux. Will be missed by sisters-in-law Marjorie Dengis and Catherine Lamothe, dear family friend Bea Howcroft, the members of her Ladies Club and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Irene Donohoe Dengis and Harry Dengis, brothers Lloyd and Gordon Dengis and sister-in-law Dorothy Dengis. Margaret was an employee of the Hamilton-Wentworth Roman Catholic School Board and was a school secretary at St. Eugene's School until her retirement in 1990. Visitation will be held on February 12, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with vigil prayers at 8:30 p.m. at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME- FENNELL CHAPEL, 322 Fennell Ave. East, Hamilton, Ontario. Mass of Christian Burial will be on February 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church, 20 Idlewood Ave., Hamilton. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington. The family wishes to extend thanks beyond words to two great friends, Mary Louise Templeton and Ardath Rice, whose unstinting devotion to Mom made this journey easier. Also, many thanks to Dr. Mark Levine and his team at the Juravinski Cancer Clinic for their compassionate and expert care over these past 14 years. Finally, we wish to express our appreciation to Dr. Bev Hattersley and the many nurses and support staff of the Palliative Care unit of St. Peter's Hospital for their skilful end-of-life care. If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cancer Assistance Program (CAP), St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Breast Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
