Maria Assunta Colella

Predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Francesco. Loving mother of Marcello “Marc” and Claudio (Irene). Dear sister-in-law of Vincenzo (Lina), and Maria (the late Antonio). Cherished aunt to Angela (Marc), Liz (Jamie), Laura (Tom), Angela, Marco and Maurizio (Ermenia). Great Aunt to Jenna, Nathan and Jack. Maria will be lovingly remembered by her many dear friends and extended family. She will always be remembered for her love of cooking and baking for family and friends. A kind and gentle soul; always willing to help others. Maria had the ability to put a smile on anyone’s face. Always a loving wife and mother, she will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to thank the nurses at Juravinski and St. Peter’s Hospitals for the exceptional care shown to Maria and her family.

The family will receive friends at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St. E. on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene's Roman Catholic Church (Queenston Rd. at Parkdale) on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Bayview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
