December 29 1928 – June 15 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Cracchiolo on June 15, 2025 at the Hamilton General Hospital. Wife of the late Phillip Cracchiolo. Loving mother of Connie, Stephanie (Peter) and Sam. Adoring grandmother of Phillip, Mason and Veronica. She will be sadly missed by her siblings, Joe (late Jean), Provie (Hilton), Grace (late Sam) and Rita (late Gord). Maria is predeceased by her parents Carlo and Stefana Crechiola and by her siblings Frances (Carlo), Angie (Charles), James (Mary), William (Mary) and Elenor (Jim). Maria was the daughter in law of the late Salvatore and Catrenze Cracchiolo, sister in law of Grace (Pasquale), Mary (Joe), Nina (Nino), Charles (Sara), Gaspare (Grace) and Mike. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a dedicated business woman and the heart and soul of Phillips Jewellery for over 40+ years as owner/operator with her husband Phillip. Her three children Connie, Stephanie and Sam joined in one by one afterward and continue to carry on the family business. Anyone that knew Mary would describe her as kind and generous. She would not only open the door on her day off for a customer who, at the last minute, realized they forgot an anniversary gift/birthday gift etc, she would then invite them to stay for dinner. As much as she thrived on her social interactions with the business, her family always came first; a true matriarch. She was our rock and always there with for us with her unconditional love, through our ups and downs, whether we deserved it or not.
We would like to give a special thanks to her three PSW’s Jesselle, Yalari and Mary for taking such a good care of our mother.
Rest in peace Mom. We will miss you so much, all of our love.
Visitation will be held at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street E., Hamilton, on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 1-5 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Cremation to follow. If desired, donations in memory of Maria to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
“It is a wonderful thing, a mother; other folks can love you, but only your mother understands. She works for you, loves you, forgives you anything you may do, understands you, and then the only thing bad she ever does to you, is to die and leave you.”
