Maria Troietto

November 8, 1931 – June 20, 2025

It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, nonna and great grandma, Maria, on June 20, 2025.

It brings us much comfort knowing she is joyfully reunited with her late husband, Elio and her precious son Dino.

Maria was born in San Martino di Lupari, Padua, Italy to parents Giuseppe and Lucia Pierobon. Sister of the late Giannino (Premizia), the late Angelo (late Bruna), Elio (late Josephine), the late Adelino (Carmela), the late Angelina, Carla (Tarcisio) Stradiotto, Teresa (late Gianni) Ongaro, the late Romano (Mariucia), the late Alfredo (Lisa).

Loving mother to the late Dino (late Carol) and Anna (Salvatore) Castaldi. Adoring nonna to Jennifer and Nicole Troietto, Adam and Zachary Castaldi and great grandma to Lucas Troietto. 'Zia Maria' will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews here in Canada and in Italy.

Maria was a kind and gentle soul. She was a loving and devoted wife to Elio for 63 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always putting the needs of her family first. She had a passion for gardening, flowers, and cooking for the Sunday family dinners. Most importantly, she was a person of great faith, which she showed through her compassion for the elderly. She was a volunteer for over 20 years with Versa Care and enjoyed assisting in whatever capacity needed. She will be loved and greatly missed by all.

PS. Nonna, we will miss your delicious gnocchi and sugo!

Visitation will be held at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street E., Hamilton, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 4-9 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 165 Prospect St N., Hamilton, on Thursday, June 26 at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington.
