Marilyn Matthews

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Juravinski/Henderson Hospital on Friday, June 23, 2017 in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Hank Matthews. Born and raised in Hamilton, Marnie worked for many years with her parents at Avondale Florists and also as a dedicated church secretary at St. James the Apostle, Hamilton. In spite of many challenges, Marnie set an amazing example of determination, character and faith. Marnie will be lovingly remembered by her children Jim Matthews (Catherine) and Jon Matthews (Monique). Dear Nana to Cheryl, Michael (Kelsey), Sarah, Ryan, Meredith and Tommy. Beloved sister to John and Carole Holden and loved aunt of Dan (Crystal). Special thanks to the team at the March of Dimes who provided wonderful care for Mom and Dad for 22 years. Friends will be received at TRUSCOTT, BROWN & DWYER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1309 King Street East, Hamilton, ON from 2-4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday June 25th. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26th at St. Stephen on the Mount, 625 Concession St., Hamilton, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Burlington.
