Marshall Stanley Parker passed from this life through heaven’s gates into the arms of our Lord Jesus and members of his family who had gone before – parents Stanley & Marion, siblings Ruth, Paul and James, wife Evelyn and son John. Known for his zeal for the kingdom of God, he worked all his life to further it in many area churches, the last of which he joined as the oldest member ever to do so, at age 89 – West Highland Baptist Church, where he thrilled weekly to the preaching of John Mahaffey and rejoiced to attend the prayer meeting. Dad loved to sing and play his clarinet to the glory of God. He built his own house in Kingston after reading a book and consulting with a friend. He could build or fix anything in the house. Born into a farming community in Essex, he grew his own produce, one year growing and harvesting 65 tomato plants! He was a Fuller Brush salesman until the age of 84. He asked everyone he met – Are you saved? One man puzzled over the question for a week until going to church to find the answer. Only eternity will reveal the harvest that question has gleaned. Called, chosen and faithful to the very end. Survived by his daughter, Merry-Lynn and her husband, Mark, their daughters Leslie and Laurie and her husband Joel and great-grandchildren Hudson, Ethan, Riley and Tessa. We will miss him but rejoice that he suffers no more. We know his booming tenor voice is singing God’s praises without the restrictions of age or infirmity! Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Graveside service at Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston on Saturday, September 28 at 11am.
