Surrounded by his loving family,
Michael Prybyla, in his 84th year,
passed peacefully at the Hamilton
General Hospital. Michael will be
sadly missed by his devoted wife
Ann (Hrycko) of 55 years, daughter
Anne Michele, son Michael William
(Bill) and wife Marianne and by
his grandchildren Stefanie, Joanna,
Samuel and Mikayla, whom he was
so proud of and loved dearly. Michael
was predeceased by his parents
Wasyl and Maria Prybyla, brothersin-
law Bill Hrycko and Joseph Fehir.
He is survived by his sister-in-law
Helen Fehir and niece Dena, Godson
Taras Doskoch, as well as family in
the Ukraine and the United States.
His enterprising abilities opened
many opportunities in his business
career: Hanson Transport (mechanic),
Pry General Store (postmaster
designation), Pry Cities Service (gas
station on Parkdale Ave. N.), Astral
Restaurant (Mountain Plaza), Essex
Packers (maintenance supervisor),
Tiger Snak Foods (Ivor Wynne
Stadium), and Pry Enterprises which
he owned and operated until his
retirement in 2013. Michael was a
life-long member of the Ukrainian
National Federation-Hamilton Branch,
member of the Board of Directors of
the Ukrainian National Federation
of Canada, life-long member of St.
Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church,
member of the Executive of
the Junior Chaika Cultural and
Educational Society and Executive
member of the Ukrainian Canadian
Seniors Club. Michael was a proud
Hamiltonian and a respected member
of the Ukrainian Community. We
would like to thank the following
doctors for their outstanding care
and compassion: Dr. Adrian Hornich,
Dr. Deborah Marcellus, Dr. Bobby
Shayegan and Dr. John Neary. A
very special thank you from the
family to Linda Smith and her
palliative care team at Hamilton
General Hospital. The family will
receive friends at the MARKEY
DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774
King St. E. on Tuesday from 2-9 p.m.
Panachyda Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral mass will be celebrated by
Father A. Lopatniuk from St. Nicholas
Ukrainian Catholic Church (260
Melvin Ave.) on Wednesday at 10
a.m. followed by interment at Holy
Sepulchre Cemetery. In Michael's
memory donations can be made to
Chaika Academic Scholarship Program
as well as Ontario Heart and Stroke
Foundation and Bladder Cancer
Canada.
