It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father and papa Nino Di Filippo aged 75 years at the Juravinski Hospital on November 5, 2024. Nino fought a courageous battle with lung cancer for 8 months and Nino did everything in his power to stay with his family. Nino was the devoted husband of Marilyn for 51 years. Nino will be dearly missed by his sons Daniel Paul and Mark Joseph. Nino was always there for them from birth. Nino leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, his granddaughter, his cutie pie Madilyn Tate and his grandson, his best little buddy, his little Goomba, Connor Gabriele. He was the best papa ever always picking them up from school, going to cheer them on at every activity that Maddi and Connor were involved in. Nino was the loving brother of Sandra Clannon (Don). Nino leaves behind his much-loved God Mother Maria Galieti of Lanuvio, Roma, Italy. Nino was like a son to her. Maria will mourn Nino forever and always. Nino was predeceased by his loving parents Sante and Anna Di Filippo.
Nino was a real handy man. Nino loved working on home renovations, especially for his two sons. The work he did was immaculate. Nino would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it especially if it was a fixer upper project. Nino was a lover of all sports. Nino and Marilyn would sit together and watch any sport and any teams. Nino watched the Toronto Blue Jays but his favourite teams were the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills & the Hamilton Tiger Cats. Nino especially liked College Football. Nino said it was the best football.
Special thanks to Sandra & Don, Judy & Jim, David & Lorraine for all the coffee runs, the delicious Mennonite pastries and homemade soups. Thank you! To our amazing neighbours who have been in Nino's life for 40 years - Thank You! To the staff at Midtown Medical Pharmacy where Nino worked part time after retiring from Dofasco in 2009 for your due diligence with filling and delivering all his medications and the kind words when asking about him. To Nino's Dofasco Family especially Eddie and Jeff (Maria) for the constant love and support. To the incredibly amazing staff at JCC and the Juravinski Hospital a huge thank you for the amazing care especially to Courtney and Mary Ann who spent Nino's last day with him keeping him comfortable - Again Thank you.
