

Oates, Phyllis (née Elliott) Peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on January 5, 2017 at the age of 75. Beloved wife of Donald ‘Critter’ for 55 years. Loving mother of Derek (Patricia Burke) and Cameron. Dear sister of Grace (Sheila), Linda, predeceased by Myrna (Lorne) and Barry (Sandy). Cherished grandmother to Warren, Damon, and Naomi. She will be missed by many relatives and friends. Phyllis was a 33-year employee of Bell Canada, followed by years of volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, CNIB, and the Red Cross. She received the Governor General award for the Order of St. John Serving Sister. Phyllis will always be remembered for her love and luck at Bingo. But most importantly she was loved for her gentle, caring nature and her devotion to family and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Benger and Wendy Bursey at the Juravinski Cancer Clinic. Her family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel followed by interment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
