Pierina Di Gregorio

Loving mother of Ray (Mary Jane), Aldo (Alda), Dave (Mary) and Carmen (Monica). Proud Nonna of Daniel, Sara (Frank), Eva (Ben); Norelle (Matthew), Natalie (Chris), Monica (Jordan); Paul, Luke, Brooke; Adele, Carina and Gabriella. Bisnonna of Charlotte, Bruno and Emma. Predeceased by her parents Finaldo and Lucia Di Giorgio. Dear sister of Maria Di Nardo (the late Francesco). Daughter-in-law of the late Raimondo and Concetta Di Gregorio. Sister-in-law of Rolando and Elisabeth Di Gregorio, Isabella and Victor Acciaroli, Vincent and Nancy Di Gregorio. Pierina will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Born in Secinaro, L’Aquila, she left Italy in 1959 as a newlywed to start a new life in Canada, leaving behind her loving parents and cherished sister. Pierina was a loving and supportive wife. A stay-at-home mom, she raised four sons who adored her. With a house full of sons, she was rewarded with four daughters-in-law who loved her as a mother. Pierina’s gift was her warmth and generosity with children, and, especially with her 12 grandchildren who each had their own special bond with their Nonna. This gift also made her a popular lunch lady with the staff and students at St. Christopher Elementary school in east Hamilton, and later at Cathedral High School. Her sons were often delighted to hear kind words about their mother from students and teachers. Pierina will be missed by all who knew her. She was a very special person.

Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), Hamilton on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 2-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Incarnation of Our Blessed Lord, Roman Catholic Church (corner of Nash Road and Barton Street, Hamilton) on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 10 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In memory of Pierina, donations to any local food bank would be appreciated by the family.
