Rebecca "Becky" Alice (Slater) Cowling

It is with love and sadness that we share the peaceful passing of our beloved Rebecca (Becky) Alice (nee Slater) Cowling on June 28th, 2025. Becky was born in Preston, Lancashire, UK on January 28th, 1947. She emigrated to Canada with her husband Kenneth and life-long friends Carol and Roy Lambert in 1966.

Becky is the cherished wife of Kenneth Cowling, mother to Lisa (Mauro) Nardi and Simon Cowling, and Nana of Alex and Chris Nardi. Daughter of (late) Rebecca and Albert Slater. Sister of (late) Sheira Trafford, and brother Thomas (Margaret) Slater. She will be missed dearly by sisters in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was employed at Oshawa General Hospital for over 20 years in numerous departments. Our Mum loved warm winters in Florida, travelling and spending time with friends and family and was an avid reader and had a love of gardening.

A heartfelt thank you to the many health care professionals that supported her through her long journey with COPD. A special thank you to Dr. Amer, Dr. Croft, the PCOT team, Ontario Health Home Care, the Prorest team and all of the PSW’s and Palliative nurses. The family also wishes to thank all of Becky’s extended family, friends and neighbours for their love and support over the years.

Cremation has taken place and family will be receiving friends at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Tuesday, July 8th from 12-1PM. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at 1 p.m.
