Predeceased by her father, Donald (1985), her brother, Brian (1991), and her mother, Joan (2006), Becky lived in Niagara Falls with her mother and attended Weehaven, Bellhaven, and the Niagara Support Services drop-in centre. After her mother’s passing, she moved to Hamilton to be close to Randall. She made her home at The Salvation Army Lawson Ministries residence at 1590 Main Street West, where she was deeply involved in the community.
Becky embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved creating at the Paparella Art Centre, participating in “Music with Paul,” enjoying one-on-one outings, bowling, judo, Aquafit, the YWCA Imagine Day Program, and the Friendship Club at First Hamilton Christian Reformed Church. She treasured her Royal Botanical Gardens membership and, in earlier years, took part in Hamilton Challenger Baseball and rode Lexie at The Equestrian Association for the Disabled.
She delighted in singing, church services, cooking classes, volcano and tornado films, colouring books, picnics, military bands, and bagpipes. She cherished ’Smores at The Salvation Army Summer Camp at Jackson’s Point, as well as hotel stays, library books, iced coffees, and every sunrise and sunset.
The supervisors and apartment staff at 1590, along with Pastor Dora Keeping, supported her both at home and throughout her time in the hospital.
She gave good hugs.
She loved, and was loved.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Salvation Army Meadowlands Community Church, 187 Stone Church Road, Ancaster, L9K 0A3, on Thursday, November 27, at 1 p.m. Cremation has taken place. An Urn Committal will follow on Friday, November 28, at Fairview Cemetery in Niagara Falls, where she will be laid to rest beside her mother, Joan, and her brother, Brian.
Donations in Becky’s memory may be made to The Salvation Army Lawson Ministries Hamilton.
