Roderick "Roddy" Malcolm Rankin

Predeceased by his beloved parents Alexander and Marion Rankin. Loving and cherished brother of Catherine, Sandra, Don (Maria), Ann (Dennis), and Bill. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Roddy was a kind, gentle soul who had a wonderful sense of humour. Although he was a man of few words, he always took the time for a friendly hello to those he met in his daily travels. A lover of music, especially Country and Celtic. He loved his family deeply as well as his Cape Breton roots. As one of his nieces said, “I’m sure Uncle Rod is sailing through the pearly gates, on the Bluenose with Grandma and Grandpa, thick sliced Bologna sandwich in hand!” The family wishes to thank the nurses, and team of the step down ward at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Dr. Jason Cheung for the compassionate care shown to Roddy and his family.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11 am. Urn interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Hospital would be sincerely appreciated.
