She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 56 years, Evarist, who passed away in January of this year.
She was the loving mother to Tonya (Dave) Smouter, Cheryl (Louis) Ferreira, and Sheena (Paul) Fabbroni. Devoted grandmother to Jared, Kenan, Allie, Maia, Isla, and Luca.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Frieda (Vince) DeSa, sister in-law Myra (Ivan) D'Souza, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and work associates. She was predeceased by her parents Betty and Selwyn D’Souza, infant sister Sandra, and brother Ivan.
Sandra was born in Uganda in 1947. She met the love of her life Evarist and was married on her 21st birthday. They welcomed their eldest daughter Tonya the following year before immigrating to Canada in 1972.
Sandra and Evarist built their lives in Hamilton and were active in their parish and the local Goan community. Their family continued to grow as they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Cheryl and Sheena. Sandra worked at Stelco Towers but left that position after 10 years to focus on her girls and business pursuits. Sandra had always nurtured an entrepreneurial streak and was successful in a few ventures before she found the perfect outlet to match her entrepreneurship with her passion for helping others. As proud owner of a Hypnosis business, Sandra touched the lives of countless individuals, offering guidance and healing through her work and supporting them towards positive changes. Her innate ability to understand and uplift those around her was evident in everything she did.
Sandra was known for her infectious energy, her outgoing spirit, and her genuine love for meeting new people. Whether through her work as a hypnotherapist or in her personal life, she had an incredible ability to connect with others, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her reliance on her Catholic faith was evident in her life, it offered her support and strength during the most difficult times of her life, especially the last two years. Her love and unwavering support will be missed by all who knew her.
A special thank you to friends Tony and Ruth Rodrigues and Ian and Andrew Harkness for their special care for Sandra over the past year.
