Passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Loved and adored by her husband Bill McMillan of 24 years, devoted and proud mother of Bronté and Brooklyn McMillan. Cherished daughter of Josephine Knott and the late Ted Knott. Daughter in law to the late Bill and Marion McMillan and step mother Madeline. Best friend and dear sister of Kris Knott (John Peterson) and sister in law to Bonnie and the late Rob McMillan. Adored aunt of Rylee and Anna Peterson and Tyler McMillan, Sandra will be reunited with her grandparents, Ted and Vera Knott and Bob and Marjorie Galvin. She will be fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers and close friends, especially Teresa.
Sandra grew up in the town of Ancaster, attended Ancaster High and later Brock University. She came from a close knit family who joined together for many celebrations, cottage life and beach vacations.
Sandra absolutely adored her children, and her love for Bill and the girls was consistently seen in her never ending tasks as a mother and proud boasts about her children’s accomplishments.
She worked as an elementary teacher for the HWDSB and her recent position was as a special education consultant. Her dedication, understanding and compassion gained her respect and admiration from colleagues, parents and students.
Sandra touched the lives of many people. Her contagious smile, zest for life, entertaining sense of humour and supportive manner won the trust of many. She faced her final challenge the way she did everything else in her life, with grace and courage.
A service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 272 Wilson Street East, Ancaster on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 1:30pm followed by a celebration of her life in the church hall. If desired, donations may be made to Bob Kemp Hospice, Juravinski Hospital and CAP. Thank you to all of the friends, family members, Juravinski staff, especially Shannon Farley and her family doctor, Dr. Loewith.
