Born in North Bay, Ontario, Stanley lived in Sault Ste Marie, Bracebridge and moved to Hamilton over 30 years ago. As a youth, he was a member of the 1970 Boys Parliament, the Air Cadets of Sault Ste Marie, and the St. John's Ambulance Corps. He worked as a taxi driver in Sault Ste Marie and a security guard in Hamilton. Despite long standing physical challenges he worked up to retirement age.
Stanley is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jean Whittingham (Bates), as well as his brother-in-law Eduardo, sister Catherine, and brother Donald. He is survived by sisters Susan (Peterborough), JoAnne (Kanata), Mary Ellen (Muskoka) and Pamela (Victoria), as well brother-in-laws Anthony and Rob. Also survived by nine nieces and nephews, a new generation of great nieces and nephews, as well as extended family far and wide.
Over the last 2 years, Stanley has received care from many health professionals at St. Joseph’s, Juravinski and St. Peter’s Hospitals. His family would like to thank all involved for their care, kindness and patience. In particular, our heartfelt thanks goes to St. Peter’s Hospital who have made his last year the best that we could have hoped for.
A private family service will be held at a later date. His final arrangements are being cared for by the Cresmount Funeral Home, Fennell Chapel, in Hamilton.
