

Beloved husband of the late Katerina Prytula (2015), who were married for 56 years. Predeceased by his parents Aleksander and Anastasia Prytula. Dear brother of Nicholas (Halyna) Prytula and the late Tanya (late Borys) Krawchuk. Cherished uncle of Mary (late George) Kolkin, the late Alice (George) Huckalo, Natalie, Lisa and Clarissa Prytula. Proud great-uncle of Kathy (Richard), Lydia (Peter), Valerie (Matthew), Natalie, Alexandra (Jason), Stephanie and Gabriel; and great-great-uncle of Isabella, Lucas and Felicity. Stefan is also missed by his brother-in-law Nick Shwec (Ann) and by Roman (Oksana) and their children Kristine and Robert, and Stefan’s extended family in Ukraine.
Stefan was a survivor of the 1932 – 1933 Holodomor, after which he immigrated to Canada with his family in 1948. He built his life working in Hamilton, Ontario as a window installer and then at Stelco until his retirement. Stefan was a generous person, and was an active long-time member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St Vladimir in Hamilton. Stefan was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed spending time camping in Northern Ontario. He was passionate about helping his homeland of Ukraine and fellow Ukrainians.

Visitation at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Panachyda at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be celebrated the following day on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home. Interment to follow at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity in support of Ukraine in Stefan’s memory.
