
Tirus grew up on Upper Ottawa Street he had so much zest for life, and a wonderful imagination. He was an extremely loving and happy child.  Tirus developed a deep love of Super Heroes  eventually gaining him the nick name “Batman”. From an early age he showed tremendous talent in sports, mostly Football and Track and Field, passed on through his Father Scott, a legend in his own right. Tirus had the speed of a gazelle, you couldn’t see his feet ever touch the ground when he ran.  

As a young boy he also showed an undeniable skill and natural raw gift for dance. He was part of his Father’s break dancing group The Tyler Connection, that took place in the eighties. From there Tirus went on to compete in School Talent Shows, impersonating his idol Michael Jackson.  Tirus was crowned Mr. MacNab and gained huge recognition as “The King of Pop” here in Hamilton. 

Tirus coached the Track and Field team at Barton and MacNab High School.  He never stopped working on his craft while coaching, and in turn earned himself an opportunity to attend Miami University in Oxford Ohio, his Father’s alma mator. There he played for Miami’s Football and Track and Field team.  

After completing his education there he then headed for the West Coast and attended Monterey Peninsula College in California running Track.  Tirus competed up and down the West coast against some of the elite. He was a shining star on and off the track. Tirus accomplished so much in his short life and he did everything with a big heart and big smile. He was absolutely selfless, very kind, and cared for everyone and everything, he was a true gentleman. He loved his career, his friends and most of all his family, here in Hamilton and Cincinnati Ohio. Tirus we love you with everything we’ve got, you make us all want to do better. 

You taught us to love and respect always, thank you. You are and always will remain on the highest pedestal.

I worked at CIBC where Tirus and My. Tyler would come to do their banking. I left the bank and that specific branch a while ago but I was just thinking of these two fellas to only learn they have passed. Tirus was soft spoken, funny and such a great person to have a chat with. It was always nice to see Tirus and his father walk in to the branch. It was nice meeting such kind souls. R.I.P Tirus, I pray that you are now in a better place.

Tirus, you are deeply missed. 
You coached the Barton track team with your enthusiastic and amazing coach and father,  Scott,  who is also deeply missed. 
Barton didn't know what hit them when ýou two arrived! 
You brought such an amazing level of energy and life to the track team! You saw potential in everyone and were always so encouraging and motivating that everybody wanted to do their best, myself included.

Tirus took the time to write individual workouts 4 some of the members of the track team. He didn't use a computer. He wrote pages and pages of the workout by hand and it was neat and organized and colorful.
Tirus truly cared and this is what set him apart.  He trained and coached me every day and called me "sweetness" and because of him I ran hurdles and made it to OFSA.  I'm so thankful he took the time to care and encourage and make track the most enjoyable experience. When he left for California there was a gap at Barton that couldn't be filled by any other man and personality. He was greatly missed but we were happy for him to be pursuing his dream and expanding his incredible talent. 
Years later, working at Oh So Sweet on Upper James, was the handsome Tirus... smiling from ear to ear,  cracking jokes and making everyone feel welcome. 
He was the brightest light and the world was lucky to have him. His birthday parties were the ultimate! He taught me so much and will be remembered always.  God is good for creating such a man. Now he's reunited with his heavenly father, parents and other loved ones and it's a better place where there's no pain and only joy.

Tirus you were truly a Great man. A gentle spirit. I enjoyed many deep and meaningful conversations with you brother. I still carry some of your insight and teachings with me to this very day. 

Enjoy your eternal life in paradise brother.  

My big bro Tirus, you're my world. I think of you every single day, every single moment. You're a part of world forever. I truly adore you and everything about you. Things are a bit tuff here at home, but we're hanging in there. We have so many memories, i could write a book. (Hmmm...maybe I will) ;) I know everything that has been happening lately is by the Grace of God but with your assistance I'm sure. So thank you, thank you and Mom. Deepest condolences to your family . I didnt know TIrus for very long but he was a such a positive light to everyone who knew him.  I wish I had known him better, he always made me feel special. I hope he is loving life and spreading joy in heaven.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of a great son, brother, uncle, athlete, mentor and friend.

Tirus stayed with us for a time when he moved back from Cincinnati and I had the benefit of a live-in comedian and entertainer.  Tirus made my children Cree and Darius laugh every day with his The Count' and Elmo' impressions.  His love of children was evident and his ability to bring laughter was constant. More recently, my son Curtis Jr. has had the chance to delight in Tirus' abundant sense of humour.
  
Although I haven't seen him in many years, I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing.  My thoughts are with the family at this time.  May you find support and love in each other.

Dear Scott, Tosha and Tanasa: We are so very sorry for your loss. The last time I visited Tirus, in the hospital, he told me "that he was going to fight the cancer with everything he had".  And he did fight so valiantly right to the end. He was so courageous and determined. Tirus was a deeply caring, young man who cherished his family and friends and showed this throughout his short life. I have to believe that Tirus is now with his Mom, Sandy in a better place, no longer in pain and showing  that amazing smile of his.  He always will be remembered with smile's and love. "Aunt Judy" and "Uncle Larry".

I am terribly sadden by the passing of Tirus. We will miss him and his help at the Hamilton Indoor Games and the Mark Graham Memorial Track and field Meet.

Tirus you will be missed.  I will never forgot you as my friend, teammate and the only person I knew who could truly literally transform himself into Michael Jackson.  :) Yes we won airband that year (Go Macnab)!! Everytime I hear "Man in the Mirror" until this day I always think about you and "Remember that Time".

I had the pleasure of watching Tirus develop from a teenager to adulthood.  He always brought with him a sense of humour, laughter, an up-beat spirit who was filled with kindness and love.  When my daughter was young and he was older, he still did funny crazy things with her and to make her laugh.  I will miss his real and genuine personality. In memory of Tirus, my childhood friend. I can't believe cancer has taken him so young, we are only 6 months difference in age. Tirus and I weren't very close as adults, our lives took us on different paths, but he is a constant in my childhood memories. I find myself returning to images of us dancing around his livingroom with our mothers, singing into spoons, pop bottles, anything we could grab! belting out the lyrics to Donna Summer's "Bad Girl", "Hot Stuff", and of course Diana Ross and Michael Jackson's "Upside Down" Wow! the disco era! So many memories, climbing the huge tree out back, watching Sanford and son on tv, picnics at the park & beach, adventures in Niagara Falls & Marine Land. I truly miss those innocent times we shared. Tirus was a good man with so many wonderful qualities, there will never be another like him. I will cherish our friendship & memories, always. Rest in peace Tirus and let the memories of his good humour, warmth and selflessness comfort everyone that knew him.

Tirus was one of the first people I got to know when I started working at Just Desserts back in '96.  He was always friendly.  The type of guy you just couldn't have an issue with.  So easy going, so athletic.  He'd race people in the back of the cafe and ruin them all.  We shared a common love of music.  To this day if I hear some old school funk I think of him.  He's now in heaven looking and feeling like the athlete we all know he truly was.  I'll miss him always.

So sorry to hear of this sad news of Tirus' passing.  Having only known him in middle school being a friend of my brother's; he was such a kind, caring and joyful person who made an impact on me at our young age.
