Vincent, also affectionately known to his friends and family as Vince, Vinny, and Uncle Vinny, left this world to shine his bright light into the next after a short illness. The youngest of 12 siblings, Vincent is preceded in his journey by his loving parents Iris and Edward Dawson and eldest brother Edward P Dawson whom we know await him with loving arms. Family members were honored to bear witness as Vincent passed from our arms to theirs. He leaves behind a large and grieving family including siblings Patricia Haber, Julie Ovens, Peter Dawson, Brent Dawson, Theresa “Terry” Dawson, Angela Fazekas, Alexander “Sandy” Dawson, Patrick Dawson, Sylvia Dawson, and Melissa Brown, their spouses and so many nieces, nephews and their families. As well Vincent had adopted his work family at METRO where he was famously known as the Singing Baker and where the love and light he shone was appreciated and reflected right back at him. Vincent entertained himself and anyone within earshot at work singing Beatle songs in the bakery while he carefully and thoughtfully kneaded dough into delicious baked goods. If you ever heard Vincent laugh, we hope you will retain that memory and conjuer up his spirit. It will surely lift you up.
Viewings will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home 322 Fennel Ave East, Hamilton, Ontario
on Friday March 7th from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. A Celebration of Vince’s life will take place on Sunday March 9th at 2:30 pm location pending, where we will gather together to share stories, honour and celebrate our relationships with this kind, gentle soul who so loved his family and friends and provided us with as much entertainment as we did him. Vincent Paul Dawson, we love you so and we are so very fortunate to have been graced with your presence in our lives. Rest in peace little brother.
The Dawson family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Juravinski Hospital who cared for Vince and a special thank you to Vince’s sister Melissa whose steadfast love and support for her baby brother never wavered. In Liu of flowers, if you wish, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice or McMaster University Children’s Hospital in remembrance of Vincent’s great niece Annabella Jayne Brown Robinson.
