

He is reunited with his beloved wife of over 60 years, Nickie. Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Tom was the epitome a family man and father. He will be missed by his children Kathy (Sam), Mary (Robert) and Helen (Dean). He will forever hold a place in our hearts. Tom was adored by his nine grandchildren, lovingly known as Papou, Stephanie (Diego), Francene, Stacey (Ricky), Joey (Janice), Danny, Sammy, Selena, Lily and Malak and by his seven great-grandchildren Yasmin, Kalysta, Layla, Kostas, Zoe, Nikos and James. They were blessed to have his presence in their lives. Tom will also be missed by his sisters Elizabeth and Freda (Sam) and many nieces and nephews.
Tom immigrated to Canada from Greece when he was 17 years old. Soon after, he was the founding member of the Greek Stars Orchestra. Tom was a self-taught musician who played the accordion. His musical career spanned several decades. The orchestra’s music could be heard across borders at weddings, baptisms, church functions, festivals and picnics. Tom always had a story for every situation which always kept us endlessly captivated. He was a proud member of the Pan Macedonian Association and an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Tom will forever be in our hearts. His legacy will live through all of us.
Visitation at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Thursday, September 4 from 5-8 p.m. with Prayers at 6 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Panagia Greek Orthodox Church, 233 East 15th Street, on Friday, September 5 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Hamilton Cemetery.
