Dr. Adam Steven Neely, 38, Assistant Principal at Gloucester High School passed away on August 10, 2019. He was a native of Hampton and a resident of Newport News. Adam was a 1999 graduate of Bethel High School and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the College of William and Mary. He was a member of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity. Adam later received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University.
Adam was a life long fan of WWF wrestling since early childhood. He was always ready for a game of Texas hold'em. His favorite baseball team was the Atlanta Braves and favorite football team was the San Francisco 49ers although he was an avid spokesman for "The G.O.A.T.", Tom Brady to which he and his father would jokingly dispute. Adam was an accomplished Fantasy Football fanatic. He was also an avid runner but his love for food overcame the desire to continue for a long period of time. Adam was known for being a huge movie buff and also enjoyed reading.
Adam is preceded in rest by his grandfathers, Marion E. Neely and Robert L. Parrish.
Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Ricky and Kelly Parrish Neely; brothers, Alex S. Neely and wife Cassandra, Aaron S. Neely; grandmothers, Marilyn L. Boatwright and Shirley M. Parrish; adored niece and nephews, Kylee Rose, Lincoln and Maddox; and Courtney Cornwell who held a very special place in his heart and was the person he had chosen to spend his life with.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home 2551 N. Armistead Ave Hampton, VA 23666. A celebration service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be offered to the charity of one’s choice or as a special tribute to Adam please love, support, and mentor a high school student.
