

Al worked for the Newport News Shipbuilding as a Design Supervisor and retired in February 2010 after 38 years of service. He was Past- President of the Virginia State Bowling Association, Past-President of the Hampton Roads Bowling Association, Member of Hampton Roads and State Bowling Hall of Fame, Associate Manager of the Virginia Peninsula USBC.
Al was preceded in rest by his father, Albert Watlet; mother, Margaret Watlet; daughter, Dawn Marie Kushner; great-grandson, Ethan Frederick; sisters, Peggy Woodruff and Kimberley Watlet; and brothers, Sidney Watlet, Robin Watlet, and Stanley Watlet. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Watlet; son, James Watlet; daughter, Ginger Savage; grandchildren, Laura Frederick, Jennifer Dumont, Timothy Kushner, Steven Kushner, Christopher Savage, Autumn Savage, James Watlet, Jr., Paul Watlet, and Krista Bond; great-grandchildren, Kya Dumont, Auron Dumont, Aria Dumont, Jocelyn Dumont, Maddie Frederick, Wyatt Bond, Spencer Bond, and Iziah Watlet; brother, Ricky Watlet; and sister, Cynthia Pritt.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Al’s life will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, June 4 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
