Alice Freeman Williams, 103, passed away on February 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 6, 1922, in Castalia, NC, to John and Maggie Freeman. Alice was the beloved sister of Jo (Edward), Fred, Dot (Frank), LaVern (Willie), and Drake (Rachel Lynn), all of whom have preceded her in death.
Alice married Robert W. Williams on February 8, 1943, in South Carolina while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Together, they moved to Hampton, VA, in 1946, where they raised their three children: Robert Louis “Bobby,” Linda Carol, and Charlotte Ruth, all of whom have also passed away. Alice was also predeceased by two great-grandchildren, Jack and Liam Taylor.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Williams; son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Lucido; and five grandchildren: Angela Taylor (Scott), Chris Williams (Kim), Stephanie Thorne (Melvin), Eric Lucido, and Daniel Lucido. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren: Michael, Lauren (Al), Caroline, Lily, Alex, Brady, Lia, Grey, Alexandria (Darius), Jayda (Amir), Lorenzo, and three great-great-grandchildren: Nayeli Jaide, Ezra Hawk, and soon-to-be Naeema Rain. Alice is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends Sachiko and Martha Jean.
A lifelong member of Copeland Baptist Church (now West Hampton Baptist Church), Alice joined on April 3, 1951, and was the church's oldest living member. She was a dedicated member who loved serving others, and her faith played a central role in her life.
Alice will be remembered for her love of family, her generous spirit, and her delicious meals that brought everyone together. The family is especially grateful to Mary Lou from A&C Home Care, and Beng and Weng, who cared for Alice with love and devotion until her final days. We also extend our thanks to Chaplain Don McMillan and hospice nurse Kristi Lynch from At Heart Home Care and Hospice, who provided compassionate care and support in Alice’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Hampton Baptist Church Preschool Fund or At Heart Home Care and Hospice in Virginia Beach.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 12:00 PM. Reception to follow at West Hampton Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
Alice’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
