

Allen was born on July 16, 1950, at Camp Eustis (now Fort Eustis) Newport News, Virginia. He spent his early years as a military brat, living in Japan, Panama, Staten Island, New York, and Washington before returning to Virginia.
He married the love of his life, Kathy Phillips Hurlock, in 1974. Together they shared over five decades of marriage and built a life centered on family. Allen was a devoted father to Sarah Fradenburgh (Steven), Michelle Ferrell (Floyd), and A.J. Hurlock (Melissa), and a proud grandfather of four grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, Margie Evans (Gary), Mike Hurlock, and John Hurlock (Trisha), as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Allen was predeceased by his parents, his son-in-law Ryan Masters, and his sister-in-law Darla Hurlock.
Allen worked in construction for most of his life and took pride in hard work and providing for his family. In his younger years, he worked on lobster and scallop boats, a time he remembered fondly throughout his life.
He enjoyed fishing and classic sports cars and was known for his friendly nature. Allen never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
A service to memorialize Allen’s life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Parklawn Funeral Home located at 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton VA 23666, followed immediately by a time of remembrance with the family.
