

Arthur was born in Rogersville, Missouri on October 16,1931, to William Ola Lassley and Lexie Capitola Lassley. He worked on the family farm and played semi-pro baseball until finally joining the United States Navy in 1952.
Arthur's first command was during the Korean war on the USS FRONTIER. He attended the Navy's second nuclear power training school and in 1961, commissioned the cruiser, USS LONG BEACH, the Navy's first Nuclear powered surface combatant. He served two years in Vietnam as Chief repair engineering officer, traveling throughout Vietnam supervising the repair of supply ships and river boats in theater.
Art rapidly excelled in his career and retired from the Navy in 1976 as a Lieutenant Commander. He worked three years at the Virginia Electric Power Company as the key maintenance coordinator of the nuclear power plant in Surry, VA. He retired again in 1979 and moved to Burnet, Texas where he volunteered at the Cassie volunteer fire department, excelling once again as fire chief for 26 years.
Arthur is survived by his brother, Dewey Lassley; sons, James and Ola Lassley; daughters-in law, Anthonnette and Barbara Lassley; grandchildren, Shannon Benton, Franklin and Jimmy Lassley, Kasey Epperson and numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Arthur was predeceased by his wife, Delta Jean Lassley; parents, William Ola and Lexie Capitola Lassley and sister, Wilma Lassley Green.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and social workers from the Veteran's Administration's home base primary care team for assisting us with caring for dad in his home.
A service with Military Honors will be held at Lassley Cemetery, date TBD.
