Barbara Gibson Burbank

Miss Burbank received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William and Mary. She taught school one year in Durham, North Carolina. She then served as a secretary in government work for over 31 years. Most of that time was spent at NASA, Langley Field, Virginia, and also with the Air Force in Wiesbaden, Germany, for two years.

Upon retirement in 1979, she did volunteer work first at CBN in Virginia Beach, then as a docent at the Air and Space Museum in Hampton and later helped at the Burbank Elementary School with the tutoring program. She was involved in church work at Grace Fellowship Church, especially with the ladies’ prayer group.

Barbara was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Burbank Carlton and Ann Rey Burbank O’Neal. She is survived by two brothers, Dr. Paul Burbank in Florida and David Burbank in Richmond.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Grace Fellowship Church, 609 Aberdeen Road, Hampton, Virginia 23661.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace Fellowship Church.
