Brooke Jewell Mitchell, our littlest angel went to spread her wings on January 5th, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends. Her demons are laid to rest, as she is finally set free from the grip of addiction. She will swim her perfect butterfly stroke with the most amazing smile, followed by the most incredible back stroke anyone has seen. Brooke’s amazing smile and bright eyes will always shine in the most beautiful of sunrises and sunsets. Even though she couldn’t stand not being able to see her feet in the water, the beach was always her favorite place.
Brooke has left to cherish her memory, mother and father, Diana and Rickey Mitchell, brother, Dylan Mitchell, sister and brother in law, Amber and James Rice, brother, Doug Mitchell and his girlfriend Shannon, with Brooke’s precious niece and nephew, Brenna and Landon Mitchell, grandparents, Samuel Novotny and Gudrun and Victor Sexton, and a very long list of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Our family would like to give special thanks to Leanne at Sentara for her care in the emergency room and for giving us extra time. Also a special thanks to Shannon and Aurora in Sentara Critical Care for fighting for Brooke when she could fight no more. We are gracious to the entire Sentara Critical Care Unit for supporting and feeding our huge family and friends that were there for support.
In our family, it is never goodbye, but a “See you later. I love you!”
There will be a celebration of life for family and friends on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 at 6pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, followed by a releasing of lanterns on Fort Monroe beach. Brooke loved flowers and we hope to fill the room. There is a GoFundMe account if you would like to assist Brooke’s parents with expenses and to share a percentage with the Sentara Critical Care Unit https://www.gofundme.com/37d72i0
