Calvin Holmes of Arab, Alabama, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at age 91 on Wednesday, 11 September 2019, at Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville, Alabama.
Calvin was born on 15 October 1927 to Annie Bell Mote Holmes and Tommie Wright Holmes in Atlanta, Georgia. He retired in Huntsville, Alabama in 1969 after 24 years of service in the United States Army. Following his military career, Calvin worked at Sterling Cadillac and also worked and retired from TRW in Huntsville, Alabama. His hobbies included photography, lapidary, computers, and genealogy. He volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Arab. He was a dedicated fan of University of Alabama football. Roll Tide!
Calvin Holmes was preceded in death by his first wife Ada Odessa Wike Holmes, his mother Annie Bell Mote Holmes, his father Tommie Wright Holmes, and his brother Hubert Lee Holmes. He is survived by his current wife Daulis M. Holmes of Arab, AL; his daughter Linda Gail Holmes of Arab, AL; his son, Michael Eugene Holmes of Henderson, NV; his daughter Debbie Annette Myers of Yorktown, VA; his stepson; his two step daughters; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Burial with full military honors will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, 28 September 2019, at Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton, Virginia.
