Those of you that have known Carolyn over the years know much of what is in this message. Carolyn loved people having worked in banking for 39 years before retiring. She loved to cook, have fun, travel, her Church, children, her God, music, especially Gospel music, her family and most of all LIFE.
She had a special place in her heart for the special lady that sat with her and cared for her over the past several years, Mary Watson. Without Mary and her help, energy and companionship it would have been very difficult for Carolyn and her family.
She and W.L. (Bubba) had two daughters, Marie and Lisa. Marie gave her a grandson, Justin who gave her two great-grandsons, Jaden and Jaxen. Lisa gave her a grandson, Jared, and a granddaughter, Heather who recently presented her with a great-granddaughter, Claire. She loved them all equally and all are going to miss her very much as well. She loved her granddaughter’s husband, Chris like he was her own.
Carolyn suffered pain through several major surgeries over the past fifteen years and suffered from scoliosis for many years. The last four years have been particularly hard on her and she became semi-ambulatory for that time and then bedridden in October of 2021. But, with all of that pain and suffering she never lost her love nor sense of humor.
She lost W. L (Bubba) to cancer in 2003. It was a great loss for her.
She and Pete were married 12/26/2007 and spent 15 of the happiest years you can imagine. Prior to the marriage she told him that they would never argue. Unlike many couples they held to that pledge. A true saint. They had been friends since 1973. On that day they pledged to honor and obey, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, ‘til death do us part. They held to that pledge.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Parklawn Wood Funeral Home with a service to follow; interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.parklawn-woodfh.com for the Dunaway family.
