David C Harwood

Mr. David C. Harwood, 80, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away on December 22, 2023. He was born on March 3, 1943, in Newport News, Virginia. Mr. Harwood was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Harwood was a hardworking individual who dedicated 43 years of his life to Newport News Shipbuilding, where he retired from. He took great pride in his career and was known for his strong work ethic.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Burliegh Harwood, his mother, Ida Louise Harwood, his brothers, Burliegh and George Harwood, and his sister, Doll Carter. Their memories will forever be cherished.

Outside of work, Mr. Harwood was passionate about his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Tina Harwood, and their children: David Scott Harwood, John Daniel Harwood, Margaret (Dee) D. Preston, and Michelle Lynn Poovey. He was a proud grandfather to Brandon, Wyatt, Meagan, Cassidy, Ashley, Kayla, Kristina, Jessica, and Amber, and a great-grandfather to Jaxson, Savannah, Silas, Emerson, Elana, and Edison.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Burliegh Harwood, his mother, Ida Louise Harwood, his brothers, Burliegh and George Harwood, and his sister, Doll Carter. Their memories will forever be cherished.

In his free time, Mr. Harwood was a member of the Newport News Moose Lodge and enjoyed listening to Old Country music. He found solace in the familiar tunes and cherished moments spent with fellow lodge members. Mr. Harwood's faith was an important aspect of his life, and he worshipped at Liberty Baptist. His faith provided him with strength and guidance throughout his journey.

Mr. David C. Harwood will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His love for his family, dedication to his work, and his involvement in the community will always be remembered.
