

Eva Mae McDaniel Edens, age 89, passed away on March 1, 2013, following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born May 16, 1923 in Sweetwater, Tennessee, Eva spent most of her early years living in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. In 1960 Eva and her husband, Truman, moved their family to Hampton, where she lived until her death. She was a member of Hampton Roads Baptist Church since 1960.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mae McDaniel; husband, Truman Jackson Edens; son, Jim Jackson Edens; and brother, Doug McDaniel. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Bill) Funderburk of Charlotte, NC, Billie (Kenneth) Tripp also of Charlotte, and Jackie Edens of Hampton; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters; daughter-in-law, Nancy Edens Wiseman; and several nieces and nephews.
Eva loved the Lord. She shared Jesus' love with everyone and depended on Him for guidance in everything she did. Eva also loved her family. No one could ask for a better mother, mother-in-law, sister, or Nana.
The family wishes to express special appreciation to Melodie Doggett and all of the staff at Medi Home Hospice; and to Dr. Kimberly Schlesinger and Dr. Mark Titus for the special care and love they provided to their mother. Jackie also wishes to express appreciation to her boss and supervisor, Ross Mugler and Karen Bever, for their compassion during this difficult time.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to noon on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, with a celebration of Eva's life to begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
