Evelyn Smith Martin

Evelyn retired from NASA in 1985 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church in Poquoson where she was active with many church activities, she was a past member of DAR and the Merrimac Dog Training Club, Yorkshire Terrier Club of the Nations Capitol and Yorkshire Terrier Club of America.

Evelyn raised and showed Yorkie's for over 25 years. She also showed obedience and agility. She loved taking her therapy dogs to schools, detention homes, and nursing homes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Page and husband Danny; two grandchildren, Kyle Peterson (Shawn) of Ponta Vedra, FL and Ryan Peterson of Jacksonville Beach, FL.; three great-grandchildren, James Singer, Kylie Peterson, and Lillian Peterson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Emmaus Baptist Church and at other times at 811 Poquoson Ave. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 31, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the building fund at Emmaus Baptist Church.
