

Following high school, he entered the U.S. Navy and then transferred into the U.S. Army. He served in WWII and retired from his military career after twenty-one years. His second career, spanning 20 years, was as a health inspector for the Hampton Health Department.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he had served as an usher. During the 70s and 80s he was involved with the Fox Hill Fast Pitch Softball League.
Surviving members of his family include his wife of 69 years, Lillian I. Willis; children, Rebecca Pilkington, and Bobby Willis; grandchildren, John Willis, and Kathy Willis; brother, Storal Willis; and sister, Norma Jean Willis.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A service celebrating his life will be held Monday, February 2, at 11:00 am, at Bethel Baptist Church. Entombment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
